Principal’s Message

Dear Parents/Caregivers

Thank you to all staff and parents/caregivers for your work and support for our students and School during this Semester.

Term 2 brings to close a very complex Semester 1 due to the impact of COVID-19 at three points: February, April and June. Despite the unusual nature of the past five months of the academic year, Swan View Senior High School has continued to ensure all students receive a high-quality education.

Parents/caregivers have receieved notification that their child’s report is available to view on Connect, and many students should be congratulated for their good results. The Year 12s only have 10 more weeks before they complete their secondary education at Swan View Senior High School so I hope they are working hard to achieve their WACE. I encourage parents/caregivers to book an appointment to talk with their child’s teachers after receiving the report. This is a good time to find out what needs to be done to keep students on track at school and our teachers enjoy meeting parents/caregivers.

The School was represented at the Combined Hills Schools ANZAC Service by Kaitlin Hodgson (Head Girl) and Gabriel Sombito (Deputy Head Boy) on 22 April 2021. The Service was held at the Blackboy Hill Commemorative site. Kaitlin and Gabriel are wonderful ambassadors for Swan View Senior High School; representing our School in a highly professional and respectful way.

Showcase Assembly was amazing. It was a fantastic opportunity for our School to promote the wonderful programs that are offered to all our students. It was a privilege to showcase our programs to many students from our partner schools that visited Swan View Senior High School on 18 June 2021; including Greenmount, Middle Swan, and Swan View Primary Schools. Your continued support for our School is sincerely appreciated. Thank you to all staff and students involved for making this event a wonderful experience.

The Swan View Fringe Festival held at the School on 27 June 2021 was a wonderful show case of the amazing contexts that are delivered by the Arts Learning Area. Thank you to Ms Rogers and the Arts Learning Area staff for their hard work in organising this well attended event.

During this Semester, Year 4 students from our partner schools have visited our School and participated in learning experiences relevant to Media and Robotics. The students enjoyed working in the revitalised Media studio and Robotics laboratory. Thank you to Mr Vidler, Mr Blaikie and Mrs Bradley for your hard work in facilitating this amazing opportunity.

I would like to farewell and acknowledge staff who have concluded their appointments at Swan View Senior High School at the end of Term 2:

· Ms Letisha Gilchrist – School Officer
